PHARMACY

Pharmacy is the science dealing with the origin of drugs, their preparation, dispensing and ultimate use for prevention of diseases in living beings. It is about compounding and mixing of ingredients to form powders, capsules, ointments, tablets and solutions is part and parcel of a pharmacist’s job.

ELIGIBILITY

After class XIIth (PCB/M), one can opt for a 4 years B.Pharma degree  or a Diploma Course. In Pharmacy.. _Post graduation is of 2 years. One can also opt for a MSc. (biotechnology) after the bachelor’s dregree in Pharmacy.

DESIGNING AS A CAREER

Designers are the people with a desire to create. They combine practical knowledge with artistic ability to turn abstract ideas into formal design for the merchandise we buy, the clothes we wear, the websites we use, the publications we read and the living and office space we inhabit. Designers usually specialize in a particular area of design, such as automobiles, industrial or medical equipment, home appliances, interiors of homes or office buildings, television, animation, footwear, furniture, jewellery, product design, visual design etc.

Professional institute and polytechnics hold an entrance exam for entry into designing course but few designing courses like jewellery designing, animation etc give direct admission

To become a designer in any of the above mentioned areas one can either go for a degree course in designing from a university or a diploma/certificate course from a professional institute or polytechnics.

An aspiring designer should have an aptitude for visual expression – drawing, cutting, painting, making, exploring colour and texture. Creativity and sensivity to human needs, ability to research information, interest in trend and interest in society and the environment, a fascination towards change and development are  the basic requirement

ECONOMICS AS A CAREER

Economics is the study of deep insight in economical functions at macro and micro levels to handle the global market. It is the science of economic system and theories that manages the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services. Economics favours quantitative skills and critical thinkers.

Economics as a career provides good opportunities to conquer an edge in today’s globalizing world. The industrial sector has great demand for economist at both the national and international level. The fastest growth in demand for economics is being witnessed in the private sector, especially in the areas of consulting and economic research. Economists are equally important in the government sector, entry to which is on the basis of UPSC examination (Civil Services in IES).

Candidates aspiring for career in Economics must have passed the 10+2 (HSC) examination from recognized Board/University with Economics as one of the recommended subjects. One can move on to pursue Bachelor’s degree in Economics followed by a Master’s Degree or Doctor of Philosophy degree for prospective economists to be competitive. However, job prospects are open after graduation itself.

AVIATION AS A CAREER

Aviation is still amongst the most rewarding and fascinating careers. Aviation refers to all the activities involving the operation of aircrafts. The courses in India deal with Flying Operation, Aircrew, Aircraft, Air Traffic Management, Aviation safety and economics of the airport. Aircraft pilots are highly trained professionals and require intensive training & skill up gradation. Being a highly specialized job one is required to have knowledge of air navigation, interpreting meteorological reports, lead the aircraft under varied circumstances and be a leader to the crew and passengers.

At technical level, a lot of skills are prerequisite for the pilots and they have to qualify many tests to get the license to fly. Getting the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) license to fly the airplane is highly competitive in nature.

For a career as a Pilot, one should pass the 10+2 level with the subject combination of Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Post class 12th one can try and crack the entrance exams of the flying schools in India and also clear the physical fitness requirements.

Leading recruiters include well known International and domestic airlines such as Emirates, Singapore Air, Etihad, Jet Airways and Air India.
